The story of the colorado avalanche
welcome back all right today's history
video is going to be on the colorado
avalanche and it includes the quebec
nordics as well uh when you get to
retired numbers uh the retired numbers
for the nordics were not brought over to
the colorado avalanche
im always interested to see how teams
are going to play that are they are they
going to honor those numbers are they
going to leave them retired how are they
going to do it so they just started
fresh in colorado but when we look at
AlUTime Points
the all-time points leaders this is for
both and obviously sakic who played for
both uh 130
games played 626 goals 1016 assists 1
641 points easily the leader in points i
nobody's going to catch them sorry
nathan mckinnon i dont think it's going
to happen
peter stasny's number twO on the list in
737 games with the quebec nordiques
380
goals 668 assists 1048 points
so two one thousand point scorers in
this team's franchise history not bad
michelle qulak should have had a
thousand points in quebec but he wanted
out he went to chicagoi had 813 games
played for him 456 goals 490 assists 946
points excellent sniper that michelle
goulet uh milan hayduke 1020 games
played 375 goals 430 assists 805 points
for him uh
phillip forsberg
is with nashville peter forsberg played
for colorado that got myself peter
forsberg 591 games played 217 goals
538
assists 755 points for forsberg nathanmckinnon 638 games played 242 goals
406
assists 648 points so with the play that
he's he's displayed over the last few
years he is now above a point per game
in his career uh which says a lot
considering there were some slow years
before he really turned it around uh
anton stasny in 650 games with the
quebec nordics had 252 goals 384
assists
for 636 points
gabe landisgog is going to be looking to
pass him at some point over the next
year or so in 738 games played 248 goals
323 assists for 571 points alex tange
598 games played 167 goals 321 assists
488 points and dale hunter is in 10th
place 535 games 142 goals 322 assists
464 points at some point over the next
couple seasons well see ransom moving
into that list as well and bumping dale
hunter out the all-time wins leader has
Numbers
to be patrick wah doesn't it 262 wins of
varalamov with 183 dan bouchard had
107
for the quebec nordics uh budai 101 and
abasher had 89 with the nordics or with
the avalanche i should say now the
retired numbers in blue are the retired
numbers for the colorado avalanche joe
sakic's 19 forsberg's 21 hey duke's 23
patrick was 33 adam footes 52 and
raymond borks 77 so nobody was single
digits which seems odd because
normally
those are the first ones to go uh the
nordics a couple single digits there
number three of jc tremblay number eight
of mark tardiff number 16 michelle
goulet number 26 peter stasny uh mark
tardif is a quy who really is kind of a
forgotten superstar because he played alot in the wha before playing in the nhl
and those wha totals don't count by nhl
standards uh the playoffs since 2000
well in 2000 they were still close
enough to that 1996 stanley cup they
were looking for another one uth they
lost the conference final that year
against dallas in seven dallas then lost
the final i believe that was in seven
against new jersey as well great
playoffs back then uh 2001
colorado wins the stanley cup 2002 they
lost the conference final in seven
against the detroit red wings 2003 they
lose in the first round in seven against
minnesota and they wouldn't see the
conference final again until this year
2004 they lost in the second round
against san jose that was in six 2006
they lose in the second round again that
is a sweep at the hands of the anaheim
ducks 2008 they lost in the second round
in a sweep against the detroit red wings2010 they lose in the first round in six
against the san jose sharks 2014
they lost in round one and seven against
the minnesota wild so minnesota's had
their number a little bit haven't they i
and again
it's a different era right so uh then
2018 after some years outside the
playoffs including one complete disaster
of a season in 2018 they lose in the
first round and six against nashville
2019 they lost in the second round
against san jose and seven 2020 they
lost in the second round and seven
against dallas they did try to come back
they almost won that series with michael
hutchinson annette they're number three
2021 they lost in the second round and
six against vegas
and this year of course they won the
stanley cup the long-awaited stanley cup
return for the colorado avalanche
although 21 years compared to a lot of
other teams in the league not that long
uh cup years 1996 2001 and 2022 their
History
arena since 2000 i liked it better when
it was pepsi center but it's bal arena
now soeverybody gets a bit of a chuckle uh
coaching history there's been 15 coaches
for the nordics and the abs
starting with jacques demers 25 44 and
11 yeah he was their coach the first
year uh jared bednar of course is her
coach now and probably forever he's he
won the stanley cup so itll be a while
240 wins 168 losses and 46 losses and
Overtime shootouts
the first goal in the history of the
franchise by the quebec nordics was
scored by real clutch and that's of
course national hockey leagu.
